2번의 아카데미, 3번의 그래미 수상이라는 화려한 경력을 가진 이탈리아 출신의 작곡가 조지오 모로더가 작곡, 프로듀싱한 곡입니다. 조지오 모로더는 이 곡을 작곡하기 위해 한국 노래를 3000곡 이상 들었다고 합니다. 모로더의 인터뷰 내용입니다. "도심 한가운데를 걷다가 갑자기 코드 진행이 머릿속으로 그려져서 즉시 스튜디오로 발걸음을 옮겨서 작업에 들어갔습니다. 그리고 얼마 후 곡을 다듬는 과정에서 제 주위에 있던 스태프 한 분이 1986년 아시안 게임 영상을 보여줬습니다. 그래서 그 영상 속의 개막식의 무대, 분위기, 규모 등을 보면서 조금 더 구체적으로 작업할 수 있었죠.” 이 곡은 독일에서 3주 1위, 스위스 6주 1위, 스웨덴 3주 1위, 노르웨이 4주 1위, 오스트리아에서 7위를 기록했습니다.
   역대 기억에 남는 올림픽 노래 중 항상 상위권을 차지한다고 합니다. 지금 들어도 참 세련된 곡이라고 생각합니다.
